Our Story: From a Vision to a Global Mission
What began in 2016 as a bold idea between two experts has evolved into a global leader in data privacy for Life Sciences. Rooted in regulatory expertise and driven by a passion for ethical data handling, MyData-TRUST has grown from a startup into an international partner trusted by healthcare and research organizations worldwide. Discover how our journey unfolded; year by year, challenge by challenge, milestone by milestone.
2016
In May 2016, shortly after the GDPR’s adoption, founders Xavier Gobert and Gautier Sobczak identified growing data protection challenges in Life Sciences and began shaping a company dedicated to privacy compliance in this complex field.
2017
At the start of 2017, their vision took form. A business plan was written, and on July 27, MyData-TRUST was officially incorporated. The team began securing funding and laying the foundation for its future growth.
2018
Following the full application of the GDPR, MyData-TRUST built its first team in Belgium, won the Innovation Prize at the Mercure Contest in Mons, and hosted its first GDPR SUMMIT in Brussels, gathering nearly 100 participants from the Life Sciences industry.
2019
With 13 employees, MyData-TRUST expanded its service offerings (training, risk assessments, external DPOs…), opened an office in San Francisco, and was named one of the ten most promising European GDPR consultancies by CIO Applications.
2020
Despite the pandemic, the team in Belgium grew beyond 20 staff members, and a new office was opened in Paris. MyData-TRUST adapted to remote work and launched its own online GDPR training platform ‘elearning-gdpr.com’ with short, digestible modules designed for busy professionals.
2021
The company expanded into Romania and started global hiring. TechLife Capital became a shareholder, helping the team grow to around 60 people. A new e-learning course for clinical professionals was introduced, alongside hybrid events and the launch of MyData-NEWS on YouTube and Twitch.
2022
A new office opened in the United Kingdom. MyData-TRUST’s global footprint now included Belgium, France, the US, UK, and Romania. A partnership with Colington Consulting was established to support HIPAA compliance in the United States.
2023
MyData-TRUST opened a Mexico office, launched legal services for Switzerland’s revised Data Protection Act, was nominated for EY Scale-Up of the Year, and hosted its 11th “Data Privacy for Health” Summit in Brussels with Paul Nemitz as keynote speaker.
2024
Building on its US presence, MyData-TRUST organized its first-ever “Data Privacy for Health” Summit in the United States, held in Raleigh, at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The company’s global operations continued to grow, serving clients with increasingly international needs.
2025
MyData-TRUST moved its headquarters from Mons to Wavre, closer to the Belgian capital, into a building bearing its own name and offering generous space for the comfort of its teams. The company also held its first West Coast Summit, in San Francisco, welcoming more than 100 attendees, and invested in its Innovation department to build DPCanvas, a proprietary platform combining human expertise with purpose-built technology to deliver greater clarity, control, and efficiency in privacy program management.
2026
MyData-TRUST continued to grow across North America: both the Durham and San Francisco teams moved into new offices designed to support the company’s continued expansion. This milestone reflects our long-term commitment to helping Life Sciences organizations navigate Data Privacy challenges closer to where innovation happens. The year was also marked by the roll-out of DPCanvas, our proprietary platform, and an acceleration of our work on AI.
Turn Privacy Into a Competitive Edge
We exist to help Life Sciences organizations turn complex privacy obligations into practical, patient-centric operations. From GDPR and HIPAA to ICH-GCP and 21 CFR Part 11, we translate regulations into clear governance, risk-based controls, and day-to-day behaviors that protect individuals while enabling research to move faster. Our teams support sponsors, CROs, sites, MedTech and Digital Health players with advisory, DPO-as-a-Service, clinical-trial privacy, data mapping and DPIAs, vendor due diligence, cross-border strategies, training, and privacy operations at scale.
The way we work is pragmatic. We rapidly assess the current state and risks, design lean controls and accountable roles, implement policies, SOPs, tooling and training, then sustain the program with monitoring and measurable KPIs.
